The Matt Abel Speed Fiesta is hosted by Florida Scholastic Rowing Association and is a USRowing Sanctioned Regatta. Find out more about the regatta on Regatta Central.

 

This regatta is for Varsity only. Novice rowers are encouraged to attend and cheer their teammates on! 

 

Regatta Location: Nathan Benderson Park, 5851 Nathan Benderson Cir., Sarasota, FL 34235

***Parking: Due to circus activities on the regatta island, parking will be off site down the road in the lot next to Homewood Suites (Map). Please be prepared to pay $15 per car

Student-Athlete Arrival Time: Plan to make an approximately 15-minute walk from the parking lot next to Homewood Suites to arrive at the boat trailer no later than 7:30 AM. Anticipate traffic delays near the parking area and Nathan Benderson entrance for drop-off.

Weather:  Look at your favorite weather app or website to check if rain/cold conditions are possible.

TeamSnap App: A reminder, as stated in the participation policy you signed, student-athletes and parents will be expected to use only HHSRC platforms, which are TeamSnap and Remind, for official team communications. Use TeamSnap, especially on Regatta days, to ask or answer questions, and receive race updates. Now is a good time to double-check your account and ensure your contact information is correct.

What to bring:

  • Hats/visors and sunscreen
  • Medications/inhalers, etc
  • Chairs/Blankets/Binoculars
  • Things to keep you occupied during downtime-homework for rowers, books, etc.
  • Jackets and rain gear
  • Money for food trucks
  • Money for regatta shirts
