Hillsborough High School Rowing Club, based in Tampa, FL, seeks an assistant coach. The Hillsborough High School Rowing Club (HHSRC) is an established and thriving rowing club founded in 1999. HHSRC is based out of the Tampa River Center in Julian B. Lane Riverfront Park. This state-of-the-art boathouse was opened in 2018 in the heart of Tampa and was part of a $35 million revitalization project. The dedicated rowers of this club have won numerous District and State Championships and regularly qualify multiple boats for SRAA Regatta. Moreover, HHSRC recently upgraded its boat fleet with multiple new sculling and sweep shells.
Flexible Hours - Our athletes practice throughout the school year and compete in the fall and spring seasons, usually five times a week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday), for approximately 3 hours. With such a rigorous practice schedule, our students learn to balance both academic and athletic goals. In addition, the lessons of time management, concentration, endurance, dedication, and camaraderie are lifelong and invaluable. Many of our rowers are in the Hillsborough High School International Baccalaureate program.
This part-time position includes overall responsibility for student-athletes and regattas.
- City of Tampa background check
- Florida Boating license and ability to drive and operate motorized coaching launch
- CPR/First Aid Certification
- SafeSport Certification (or willing to complete before the first day)
- Have or are willing to get the US Rowing Level 1 coaching certification
- Comfortable working with athletes new to the sport and helping develop those athletes to be competitive novice-level rowers.
HHSRC is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization run by an experienced Board of Directors of parent volunteers.
Most importantly, the incoming assistant coach will work with a wonderful group of student-athletes and become part of a vibrant rowing community and the HHSRC family.
