Spring 2022 HHS Rowing Club ERG-A-THON

When: 2/14/22 to 2/25/22                    Where: Land Practices, Julian B. Lane Boathouse

We are excited to announce the kickoff of our Fifth Annual Erg-A-Thon! As HHSRC continues to adapt and adjust to the global pandemic, the Spring 2022 Erg-A-Thon will be completed in a virtual format. This year our athletes will have 14 days to enter the Erg rowing competition, with Coach Shawn logging their official results.

What is an Erg-A-Thon? First, the Erg-A-Thon is traditionally our BIGGEST fundraiser of the year! HHSRC rowers will compete against one another to determine who can row the furthest distance on an erg in 30 minutes. Our top Erg-A-Thon male and female rowers in the varsity and novice categories will win a $50 AMAZON GIFT CARD, a trophy, and exclusive bragging rights!

How does it work? Each rower is expected to obtain sponsorships, with these coming in the form of either a flat dollar amount or a donation based on the total number of meters they rowed. For example, if a rower ergs 5000 meters in 30 minutes and a sponsor pledges 1 cent per meter, that will result in a $50 donation to HHSRC in that rower’s name.

Example of per meter donation with 5000 meters rowed (in 30 min allotted time):

½ cent per meter - $25

1 cent per meter - $50

1 ½ cents per meter - $75

2 cents per meter - $100

Each rower is asked to send out Erg-A-Thon sponsorship requests on their favorite social media and/or via email/text to family and friends! The top 2022 HHSRC Erg-A-Thon FUNDRAISER will receive a $100 Amazon gift card! Any donation of cash or checks must be logged in the rower’s official pledge form and turned in to Coach Andy or Jackie Sprague, Treasurer, by Friday, February 25th,2022. Check donations should be made out to HHSRC.

All families are asked to fundraise at least $300 each school year. Rower fundraising is critical for our club operations and helps us reduce our fee schedule.

100% of the funds raised from the Spring 2022 Erg-A-Thon will be used to purchase much-needed new equipment for HHSRC that will help us remain competitive as a team and improve the experience for the rowers. Feel free to email with any questions!

HHSRC is a non-profit 501(C)(3) tax-exempt organization.

Donations to the Club are tax-deductible under the IRS Code.
