Southern Sprints Indoor Championships

The 41st edition of the Southern Sprints will be held on February 4, 2024 at the Charles and
Ruth Clemente Sports and Recreation Center and hosted by the Florida Tech Crew. FInd our more at Regatta Central.

Coach approval is needed to participate in his event.

When: 2/04/24

Location: The event takes place at the Charles and Ruth Clemente Center on the Florida Institute of Technology campus, 3011 Panther Place, Melbourne, FL 32901.

Arrival Time: 8:30 AM

Parking: Carpooling effectively will help everyone! There is a parking lot in front of the Clemente Center. Follow this link for parking updates.

Waiver: The Southern Sprints Indoor Championships requires that each athlete complete a waiver. Please follow these instructions:

1. Go to https://waivers.regattacentral.com/sprint2024
2. Search for our club
3. Enter the athlete’s last name and birthdate
4. Select your athlete record and select ‘Next’. NOTE: If your record is not found, the last name and/or birthdate likely do not match your team’s roster information. Contact the club if you need additional assistance.
5. Forward the waiver confirmation email to hhsrowingclub@gmail.com no later than 2/2/24.

Hotel: The FIT Melbourne campus is a 134 mile drive from HHS. You may want to consider
staying at a hotel overnight Saturday before the race.

for each of our HHSRC athletes.

Volunteers: 17 HHSRC athletes will be competing at this indoor erg regatta. In the past, attending parents
coordinated a lunch run and this is suggested again for this year. President Mitch Neff has offered to
help coordinate if everyone wants to get (or pick up) lunch together. Otherwise, it is up to the
rowers and their families to provide food, snacks, water for their student athletes.

Fees: There are no fees required to pay to HHSRC associated with this regatta. There may be a fee for
parking. Check back here for potential parking updates.

Weather: Since this is an indoor (large gym) erg regatta, the only thing the weather can affect is your drive
over and back. Look at your favorite weather app to check if rain/cold conditions are possible.

What to Bring:

• Athletes: HHSRC Uniform (“Unis”)
• Parents: wear your HHSRC crew swag
• Medications/inhalers, etc.
• Things to keep you occupied during downtime-homework for rowers, books, etc.
