The Hillsborough High School Rowing Club ( HHSRC ) was founded in 1999 to provide students at the school with an opportunity to participate in a sport that encourages physical conditioning, teamwork, and organized competition for young men and women. Our athletes practice throughout the school year and compete in both the fall and spring seasons.   Practices are usually five times a week, for 2 - 3 hours.   With such a rigorous practice schedule, our students learn to balance both academic and athletic goals. The lessons of time management, concentration, endurance, dedication, and camaraderie are lifelong and invaluable.

Unlike other major sports, rowing is considered a club sport in the school district and, as such, receives no local or state funding.   The Club relies solely on member families, friends, and the community for financial support. Rowing is a tremendous sport and the purpose of the Club is to encourage participation for as many interested students as possible. It is also a very expensive sport that requires a lot of equipment and supervision. HHSRC makes every attempt to keep fees and costs at a minimum for families, and supplements its budget with fundraising events throughout the year. HHSRC is a non-profit 501(C)(3) tax-exempt organization.  Donations to the Club are tax-deductible under the IRS Code.

HHSRC is an organization made up of volunteers , with only the team coaches being paid. The Board of Directors meets once a month to make decisions for the smooth operations of the Club. Parent volunteers are needed for many very important duties, e.g. parent supervisors during practice, equipment maintenance, setting up for regattas, driving to out-of-town regattas, fundraising, etc. Without the efforts of volunteers, our students cannot train and compete in this sport.

Visit our website for information on events and schedules, contact information, volunteer opportunities and much more.

If you have any questions, please contact the head coach or any board member. We welcome your input.
