Head Coach

Jesse Tate

My name is Jesse Tate and I am pleased to say I am the new head coach for the Hillsborough High School Rowing Club.  A few biographical notes about myself:

I'm entering my 12th year of competitive rowing and 6th year of coaching. I previously rowed for H.B. Plant High School on their 1st men's 8 to to make grand finals in 2005.  Continuing in this vein, we were also the first boat to qualify for SRAA in 2006.  This was followed by another successful season in 2007 where we finished with a ranking of 17th in the nation at SRAAs.

After finishing another two years of rowing at the University of South Florida I began coaching at H.B. Plant High School, starting as land trainer and then moving up to Assistant Women's Novice Coach and closing out my time there as Novice Men's Coach.  Additionally, I coached the Men's Novice and Varsity squads at my Alma mater, the University of South Florida for three seasons.  I am pleased to say that I helped grow the program from 12 total rowers to a squad that now boasts 35+ male and female rowers.

As your new head coach I look forward to helping Hillsborough Rowing expand into a competitive force in the State and Southeast Region.  I bring over a decade of experience and I look forward to using this in helping the young oarsmen and oarswomen on the team achieve success on the water and beyond.  This year my main goal will be to lay a solid foundation for future successes by our rowers.  I don't believe in quick fixes, but rather doing right the first time, even if it takes a little longer.  My emphasis will be on teaching our rowers that it's not about one person or one class, but rather one team.  A teammate's success is everyone's success.

I look forward to meeting all of you and if you have any questions/comments/concerns please don't hesitate to contact me directly.

Assistant Coach

Chloe Sink

Hello, my name is Chloe Sink and I am the assistant coach for Hillsborough High school Rowing. I have been actively involved in the competitive rowing community for 7 years, now entering my eighth year.

My initial introduction to the sport of rowing was through Space Coast Crew located in Brevard County. With this program I had the opportunity to serve as a men's varsity coxswain as well as a captain of the men's program for 6 consecutive seasons.  I will always consider myself very fortunate to have been part of the developing years of this club; during my time (as well as my teammate's time) there I was able to see the team grow both competitively and in overall membership. With my final men's varsity 8 season boasting medals in almost all races prior to the state championship.

Following my departure from Space Coast I enrolled in the University of South Florida where I promptly joined the rowing program. I served as an athlete for my first year and entering the second I was asked to serve in the capacity of the novice coach for the program. Within this novice USF made their first trip in team history to SIRA (regional championships for collegiate rowing). I am very proud to say that the men's novice four made it to the B finals of their event, placing them above three lower flights of their competitors. I presently serve as the Men's varsity coach with USF.

With Hillsborough I hope to be a part of the growth within this budding program, and to assist with the overall atmosphere of competitiveness. I look forward to helping your student athletes feel the amazing impact this sport can have on their daily and future lives!

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have!
